Today's post is going to be a little different. It isn't about clients or my current work. It's going to be part of my "Behind the Lens" spot on my blog. This is where you can get to know me better. I think it's extremely important to like who you work with. On both sides. I need to like my clients and my clients need to like me. That's the recipe for bangin' sessions.
So, today being Thanksgiving, I wanted to share what I'm most thankful for this year: my family.
First up is these two. My parents. I don't know what I'd do without them. The day you're seeing pictures from is the day I moved my tiny house to the family property in MN. It was a few years coming and always my dream to get "Tiny" to Minnesota. I definitely couldn't have done it without them and I can't wait until next spring when Ross and I can go up and spend more time up there.
I'm thankful that my Mom is receiving treatment that seems to be working. She got a new doctor and so far three months in things are looking better than they were. I am thankful for science and her and Scott's willingness to keep fighting. I'm also thankful that we live near one of the best places in the country for cancer treatments, the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo. Seriously.....how lucky are we to have that in our back yard?
I'm thankful for Ross's side. *Not pictured is my father-in-law, Kurt. I don't have any pictures of him.....hopefully I get a few today*
They're the kind of people that you can ask for help and they'll be there. I can't tell you how many times my car won't start because it's so dang cold outside I call Kurt and he picks me up, brings me to work, brings me home from work, and then in the bitter cold at 5 pm in January works on my car to get it going.
My brother-in-law who goes on adventures with us. Calls me sis and I always get a hug from. Someone who you can sit down and have a deep conversation with if you need to. My mother-in-law, her husband, Jamie, and the newest addition Kati. Teaching me that it isn't SO SCARY to have a baby.....maybe Ross and I can handle it? In the future, of course.
Last but not least is my husband. He deals with our house being a little bit messier because I have to get caught up on editing (notice I said "messier" because I've never kept a perfectly clean house...lol). Putting plans on hold because I have a shoot scheduled. He's my sounding board for everything in my business. His response always is: "if that's what you want to do, do it". Where would I be without this man? I couldn't have asked for a bigger supporter of my dreams.
Although I am most thankful for my family, I'm also thankful for all my friends and my clients. I'm still amazed at the support I get at every turn from everyone and I can't wait to see where this little biz takes us.
Happy Thanksgiving, all! I hope you get to eat some of your favorites today and spend time with family and friends.
