Buffalo City Popcorn

This one was a little different for me! Melissa Mikkelson has her own social media agency, Motivated Media by Mel, and she reached out to see if I was interested in taking pictures for a small business here in Jamestown. Of course I said YES, because this is something I've wanted to start doing for a long time. Don't get me wrong, I love my families and their littles, but I've always loved the idea of partnering with small businesses. Just because I'm also a small business and I feel like we need to stick together.

So I have never met Sonja, Craig, or Peter before. But I headed to Sonja and Craig's house where she has an attachment to her garage that goes into a commercial kitchen. This thing is amazing. Once I get in there I turn the corner and BOOM, tons of tubs full of popcorn all different colors and it smelled amazing. It was sweet and savory and popcorny (is that a word?).

Poor Sonja seemed pretty nervous. Which shot my anxiety up further. After a little bit of chitchat we got to work.

First up was the popcorn bar. What you can expect to see if you book them for any events. Sonja scoops out all this amazing popcorn and styles the buffet. If I was getting married over again, I'd definitely have this. Instead of his/hers cocktails, I'd have his/hers popcorn flavors 😋

Sorry, I'm rambling.

After the popcorn buffet we got into product pictures. I quite enjoy taking pictures of inanimate objects. They don't run away from me like small children do.

They're working on a website rebuild and I hope my images help showcase their product. I really tried to get the colors to POP in post.

This one is my personal favorite. Inspired by the movie Frozen. Of course it's my favorite because of the color! Teal anything is my fav. Look how that pops on that black background. AGH. Gorgeous (and delicious).

After the products, we needed pictures of the people behind the popcorn. Craig and Sonja turned on their equipment and explained to me how it works. We got some good shots of just them as well (minus Peter who was being shy) so you can all see them, and not just their product. Which is something that I've learned is very important when owning a business. People like seeing your face. Its definitely something that I've been working on.

As of right now you can get their delicious product by placing an order on their website: buffalocitypopcorn.com

I enoucourage all of you to treat your taste buds and give this local product a whirl, you will not be disappointed!
